Zachary, LA – A Louisiana middle school teacher was arrested Feb. 6 after it was alleged she had sexually abused a 15-year-old student in her residence while her child was also home.
Ellarea Silva, 34, turned herself in to the police after police obtained a warrant, according to WHDH.
Silva first contacted the 15-year-old by sending a message to his student email address using her school email address, according to the arrest report.
The teacher and student then began communicating via their personal email addresses so the school district could not track them, police said.
Police say that Silva sent nude photos and videos of herself to the student. The teacher’s face was intentionally kept out of the photographs and videos, according to a police report.
The teacher then started exchanging text messages with the student and stated that she wanted to have sex with him, police said.
Silva started to pick up the teenager at his home and then would bring him to her house. She gave the boy a e-cigarette vaping device that may have contained THC, according to WAFB.
According to police, Silva had sex with the teenage boy eight or nine times during the summer of 2019. Silva’s child was at home during each sexual encounter, according to a police report. WAFB didn’t report the age of Silva’s child.
The teacher was placed on leave from the school district on Jan. 24, and police were made aware of an allegation.
Silva was charged with Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, and Oral Sexual Battery. Her bond was set at $225,000, according to WAFB.
Parents and police have reached out to parents to find out if Silva had any interactions with any other students, according to WAFB.
