BREAKING: Female Orlando Officer Shot Nine Times, Suspect On The Loose
Orlando Police Sergeant Shot Outside Walmart
Orlando, FL – A female Orlando Police Sergeant was shot nine times Monday morning at about 7:15 AM outside a Walmart in Pine Hills. A massive manhunt is underway for the suspect, who was described as wearing a security guard uniform.
According to WFTV9ABC, the Orlando Officer had been shopping inside Walmart and was putting bags into the trunk of her vehicle in the parking lot when another unidentified shopper approached her. A witness, James Herman, said that the shopper told her that a man who was wanted was inside the store, in one of the check out lines. He said that he thought the Officer was going inside to confront the suspect, who was coming out the door at the same time.
James Herman also said he saw the suspect shoot the female Orlando Officer and thought he heard at least 12 shots. He said “(The shooter) was an average looking dude, he walked by me, had a security vest and everything. I was walking down the sidewalk, right past the officer, and I heard her tell him to stop, or whatever, and he shot her. He shot her down. He took off running. It’s unreal.” James Herman said that the man continued to shoot behind him as he was running from the scene. He said that he hit the ground, and that he thought the suspect was a security guard for Walmart.
The Orlando Police Department has confirmed that the Orlando Officer, whose name has not been released, was shot nine times. She was transported to a local hospital. Her condition has not been released at this time. Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded to the area around the intersection of Pine Hills Road and North Lane, just south of Royal Oaks and Pineview apartments. A massive manhunt is ongoing for the suspect. Pine Hills Road was shut down in the area of the shooting and the Orlando Police Department urged drivers to avoid Princeton Street and John Young Parkway.
It is not confirmed but it appears that Officers are responding to different scenes all related to this incident. A motorcycle officer en route to the scene was struck by a vehicle and that officer’s condition is not known at this time.
