Hampton County, SC – Hampton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Sergeant Charles Peeples died on May 29, following a brief illness.
The 62-year-old sergeant servedHCSO for 19 years, and was assigned to the Civil Division at the time of his death, the department said in a Facebook post.
“Affectionately known as ‘Uncle Charles,’ Sgt. Peeples served his country and his county proudly,” the post read. “He dearly loved his family, friends and many ‘extended family’ members, the military, law enforcement, motorcycles, fishing and life.”
In addition to his two decades of service with HCSO, Sgt. Peeples also served in the North Carolina National Guard from 1982 until 1990, according to his obituary.
In the 1990’s, he spent some time working as a Department of Natural Resources officer.
“He loved his job and the people he worked with every day, especially the citizens of Hampton County and surrounding area, but most of all, he deeply loved his family,” his obituary read.
Sgt. Peeples leaves behind his daughters, son, siblings, five grandchildren, and many friends and extended family members.
“You were loved by all who had the pleasure of your company, will be missed more than you could ever imagine and remain in our hearts forever,” the HCSO said. “Rest in Peace, we have it from here.”
Sgt. Peeples was laid to rest on June 2.
