Firefighter Dominic Socie Arrested For Impersonating Every Firefighter’s Hero
Firefighter Dominic Socie Arrested For Impersonating Police Officer
Hilton Head, SC – A Hilton Head Island Fire & Rescue firefighter was arrested and charged for impersonating a police officer on Sunday.
After his arrest, Firefighter Dominic Socie, 33, was suspended from the fire department, according to Island Packet.
The incident occurred on August 1 at the Big Bamboo Cafe at around 1:30 AM. Socie called police and told the call-taker that he was a bartender and needed help removing underage customers.
The deputy arrived as the bar was closing, and he didn’t see any underage patrons. When the deputy asked the staff about the incident, they said that they didn’t know any bartender named Dominic Socie.
The deputy then saw Socie and recognized that he was a firefighter. Socie claimed that he had made the call because he had a problem with his bar bill, but the problem was corrected, and he no longer needed assistance.
Socie left and bar security said that he had been checking the IDs of females in the bar earlier. The security staff requested that Socie be trespassed from the property.
When the deputy spoke with the security guard who witnessed Socie checking IDs, the man said that Socie had showed him a badge and claimed that he was an undercover police officer. When the security guard said that he didn’t believe Socie, the firefighter responded that he would call dispatch and have “seven cop cars show up.” That’s when Socie called the police.
The next day, a deputy contacted Socie who “explained he does not remember the entire evening and only remembered parts of what happened. Socie did not remember anything about his call to a Sheriff’s Office dispatch. Socie advised the only reason he would call about underage customers is if someone asked him to.”
He was later arrested and charged for impersonating a police officer. He remains on suspension from the fire department.
