Female Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing Student Found Dead In Murder-Suicide

Emma Neil Ogle, 63, was facing charges for having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Huntersville, NC – A 63-year-old high school teacher who had recently been accused of having sex with a student was found dead in her home with her husband on Wednesday morning.

Emma Neil Ogle was a career and technical education health occupations teacher at Garinger High School on Oct. 31 when she was accused of sexually abusing a student, WCNC reported.

The teacher allegedly started flirting with a 17-year-old student beginning in the spring of the prior school year before sexually abusing him during the summer, WSOC reported.

Then the student reported what was going to another staff member at the high school on, and Ogle was arrested within hours.

Ogle was charged with engaging in a sex act with a student, indecent liberties with a student, and a crime against nature, according to WCNC.

She was released on a $10,000 bond and went back to the home she shared with her husband.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said there was no evidence that the sexual acts happened on school property, according to WSOC.

The school district suspended Ogle, who had been with them since 2005, with pay the same day she was arrested.

On Wednesday, Ogle’s husband – Michael Ogle – didn’t show up for work and a family member went to check on him and make sure everything was alright, WCNC reported.

The family member called police and told them she saw Michael down inside the house located on Hambright Road and that Emma Ogle had a gun.

Authorities treated the incident like a barricade situation, and SWAT officers responded to the home at about 8 a.m. on Nov. 6, WCNC reported.

Huntersville police said that when SWAT could not get a response from inside the home for over an hour, officers went inside and found both Emma and Michael Ogle dead from gunshot wounds, WSOC reported.

Detectives believe it was a murder-suicide scenario by which Ogle shot her husband Michael and then turned her gun on herself.
