Northern California – The manhunt for Tad Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas has been canceled now that they have both been located.

Elizabeth Thomas, 15, was kidnapped by her former teacher, Tad Cummins 50, in Tennessee on March 13th. Since then, there has been a nationwide manhunt for the two.

According to Fox News, Elizabeth is safe and the Tennessee Amber Alert has been cancelled.

In a tweet, the TBI said that they are ‘gathering as many details as possible’ and will be holding a press conference later Thursday afternoon.

The search had been made more difficult because Tad Cummins had changed his appearance and may have switched license plates on the vehicle that he was driving.

Court documents that were filed recently in Elizabeth’s disappearance showed that she was afraid of Cummins and thought she would face consequences at school if she resisted him.

Before they were located, the TBI stressed that this incident is a kidnapping and not a romance.  Elizabeth Thomas was in danger, and Cummins was believed to be armed with two guns.

Tad Cummins had been fired from his teaching position after an investigation into reports of inappropriate contact, and is facing charges of Aggravated Kidnapping and Sexual Contact with a Minor.

Cummins’s wife filed for divorce on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Since the start of the manhunt, thousands of tips were received by investigators as the case reached national attention. Thankfully, the hunt is now over.
