Deputy Charged With Having Sex With 16-Year-Old Son Of Department Official

Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Shauna Bishop is facing charges after she had sex with a minor.

Folsom, CA – A female Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy was arrested on Thursday for having sex with the 16-year-old son of her boyfriend, who is a high-ranking official in the same sheriff’s department.

The father of the boy, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of his minor son, dated 45-year-old Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Shauna Bishop for about a year, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Court records showed that he said he broke up with Deputy Bishop in April after he became concerned that his girlfriend’s behavior was “inappropriate” with his teenage son.

He told his ex-wife that he was concerned “Shauna was ‘grooming’ our son,” the Sacramento Bee reported.

The boy’s mother and Deputy Bishop had become good friends after the deputy broke up with her ex-husband and she said that she was not concerned about her relationship with her son; however, she did check her son’s cell phone records at his father’s request and found nothing unusual.

“I found nothing that led me to believe there was more to the relationship than what it was,” the mother told investigators.

Court records show that the night the incident occurred in late April, Deputy Bishop went over to the mother’s house at about 8 p.m. to help her talk with her son about his drinking and marijuana use, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“We all three sat on the couch and I wanted Shauna there with me because [the victim] really responds well to her and I knew it would be easier to discuss if she was with me,” she explained to police.

The discussion went til midnight and Deputy Bishop decided to sleep over, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Court records showed that Deputy Bishop had planned to share the mother’s bed, and that they both took Ambien before going to sleep.

That’s when Deputy Bishop visited the 16-year-old boy in his bedroom down the hall, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“After my mom and Shauna talked to me that night, Shauna came into my room and brought me a glass of water,” the teenager said, according to court documents. “She had like one knee on my bed and gave me a hug.”

The victim said that’s when the deputy started to kiss him and touch his genitals.

“We only made out for a second, and then I think she heard my mom coming, because she stopped,” the boy described the encounter to police.

Court documents said that Deputy Bishop left the room with his mother but returned a few moments later to continue the liaison, according to the Sacramento Bee.

“I took her shirt off, and she was kissing on me, and then she started [performing oral sex],” the boy told police.

Court documents showed the she left the room eventually and didn’t return, so the boy went to get her where she was in bed with his mother, and Deputy Bishop followed him back to his bedroom.

“When she walked in she said, ‘I knew this was going to happen tonight,’” the teen said.

Court document showed the boy said that the deputy performed oral sex on him and then asked him if he was ready to have sex, the Sacramento Bee reported.

They had intercourse and then Deputy Bishop left the room after warning him not to tell anyone what had happened, according to the report.

The next morning, she stayed in bed until the mother left to take her son to school, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Later that day, Deputy Bishop and the teen boy had a 69-minute phone conversation during which she blamed her actions on pornography.

Court documents showed “Bishop went on to tell [the boy] she watched stepmom/stepson related porn videos that made her [fantasize] about him. Bishop told [the boy] she thinks about [him] while she masturbates and had wanted them to have sex for a long time,” the Sacramento Bee reported.

Deputy Bishop told the boy she used to walk around his father’s house naked in the hopes the teen would catch her.

Investigators found Internet searches for “stepmom, stepson” porn videos on the deputy’s phone, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Court documents said “each video she watched corresponded with the sexual acts performed by Bishop that [the boy] described during his second [police] interview.”

Two weeks after Deputy Bishop had sex with the boy, he told his sister what had happened.

His sister told their parents and the mother called the Folsom Police Department, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Police had the mother make a “pretext call” to Deputy Bishop, during which she asked if anything had happened that night and mentioned the long phone call with her son the next day.

Deputy Bishop denied remembering anything about what happened, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“When he told me what happened, I had no idea,” Deputy Bishop said. “I was so drugged.

“I thought it was a dream. I’ve been so sick over it. I literally have no recollection,” the deputy insisted.

The victim told police that he hadn’t initially reported the incident to police because he was worried about what would happen to Deputy Bishop’s children, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“I really don’t want anything to happen to Shauna,” the boy told police. “I am worried for her kids. She has a 16-year-old daughter and 20-year-old daughter and I don’t want to see them get hurt.”

“I really wish this would all just go away,” the teen said.

Deputy Bishop turned herself in to the Sacramento County jail after Folsom police got a warrant for her arrest, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Court records showed she was charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, one count of child molestation, and three counts of oral copulation with a minor.

Deputy Bishop was released from jail on the same day she was arrested, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The Folsom Police Department is leading the investigation.

“We’re in complete cooperation with the Folsom Police Department,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Tess Deterding told the Sacramento Bee. “But we are really letting them handle the investigation as they see fit.”

Deputy Bishop was placed on administrative leave in May pending the results of the criminal investigation.
