Confirmed: Cops Saw Alton Sterling Reach for Visible Gun

New information has been released in the Alton Sterling case. We previously covered that Alton Sterling’s right hand was not under control of the police officers at the time that he was shot, and officers knew that Sterling had a gun in his right pocket. It was unknown, before now, how the officers knew about the gun. Agitators have speculated that feeling a hard object in Sterling’s pocket would not have been enough for them to recognize it as a gun. They’re wrong, but now we know that the officers actually saw the gun sticking out of Sterling’s pocket, and that he was reaching for it.

CNN reports:

In a search warrant affidavit seeking surveillance video from the store, Detective R. Cook wrote that the Baton Rouge officers deployed their Tasers after Sterling did not comply with their orders.

“While the officers were attempting to subdue the subject the officers observed the butt of a gun in the subject’s front pants pocket,” Cook wrote.

“When the subject attempted to reach for the gun from his pockets the officers fired their police issued duty weapon at the subject to stop the threat. The subject was shot multiple times and did not survive his injuries.”

An armed felon was reaching for his visible gun while resisting arrest. Those circumstances, along with the video evidence, clearly show that officers had no reasonable alternative to shooting Sterling.

Of course, even if there was clear video of Sterling grabbing his gun, Black Lives Matter would still claim that shooting Sterling was unjustified. In the minds of these rocket scientists, no use of deadly force ever appears to be justified. Using deadly force while defending your life is viewed by many as a punitive action, which cannot be completed without due process. This legal mumbo-jumbo is the kind of crazy that’s only spouted by internet lawyers.

All people have a right to protect their lives with whatever force is necessary. These officers were right in the actions that they took to defend their lives. Alton Sterling sealed his own fate the moment he decided to go for his gun.

100%correct! Prayers for our Men and Women in Blue!

Didn’t he have an almost identical interaction with police 2009? I thought there was also a slowed down video where the gun can be seen in his pocket. This one seems pretty simple to me.

    • Clive Westwood

another felon with a gun so …..

  • Robyn Fredieu-Cole

That’s not consistent with the video. You quoted a preliminary CNN statement before the investigation. Are you actually calling this news reporting?

  • Mike Johnson

    Fuck the police!

  • Richard Schindler

Yea that’s why the cops illegally detained and stole the stores security camera system after the shooting. Where’s the punishment for that? Not shady at all

    • Clive Westwood

yeah ..you should check the laws before you run your mouth..they can confiscate anything that pertains to the case and keep it until at least the case is solved ..i’m sure this thugs people will try to sue so they will keep the evidence till they decide …

      • Richard Schindler

Wrong, they need to permission from the properties owner. If the owner says no then they need to get a warrant. Maybe you should learn the law before you run your mouth.

        • Clive Westwood

no they dont…a fucking court order will take the owners fucking car

          • Richard Schindler

They didn’t wait for a court order. If it happened in a residential neighborhood and someone had video surveillance on their home the police just can’t take it. It’s PRIVATE PROPERTY. Did the cops get a court order to take it? No. They just took it. I know that’s hard for you to understand. I’m sorry you are mentally impaired.

          • Richard Schindler

Just because you think the guy deserved what he got doesn’t make the fact the cops broke the law and illegally confiscated private property without a court order.

          • Richard Schindler

Them killing a bad guy is not the issue and doesn’t grant them extra rights to take someone else’s personal property illegally you sheep

        • Clive Westwood

they dont need permission for shit ..

          • Richard Schindler

On private property they cant. That’s why the owner of the store can get you for trespassing. He purchased the video surveillance with his own money. That’s private property and cops need warrant or court order to take it. Why is that hard for you 5o understand ?

          • Richard Schindler

I bet you didn’t know the owner of the store has a lawsuit against the officers who illegally confiscated his property. Guess what… to file a lawsuit it has to be wrapped around legal statue, genius. Read the title. Cops SAW a gun. Fuck what cops say. There are plenty of documented cases where cops were found lying to protect themselves. I’d rather see video evidence but they illegally took it. If it walks and talks like a duck it’s probably a fucking duck you boot licker

        • Clive Westwood

he got what was coming …THE END

      • Richard Schindler

They do have the right. That’s why a judge will sign the warrant to take it. They skipped that whole part. Which makes it illegal. Dumb people. Dump people everywhere.

      • Richard Schindler

The reason law enforcement breaks the law so much like this is because there is no accountability and a slap on the wrist for doing it vs a murder charge is the motive for it. Please don’t procreate. Thank you.
