Killer, Shiloh Heavenly Quine, Sentenced To Life Without Parole Gets Taxpayer-Funded Sex Resassignment
Shiloh Heavenly Quine Wastes An Obscene Amount Of Taxpayer’s Money
Los Angeles, CA – California taxpayers have paid for the sex change operation of a murderer, Shiloh Heavenly Quine, age 57.
According to Fox News Insider, Quine is serving a life sentence without parole for First-Degree Murder, Kidnapping, and Robbery, and was approved for “sex-reassignment surgery.” The surgery was done in San Francisco and Quine will now be transferred to a women’s prison.
Quine was born as a man, Rodney James Quine. He and an accomplice killed a man, Shahid Ali Baig, age 33 and a father of three, in 1980 while stealing his car during “a drug and alcohol-fueled rampage.” The victim’s daughter, Farida Baig, legally petitioned to have the surgery denied but was unsuccessful. She said “My dad begged for his life… I’m helping pay for [Quine’s] surgery. because I live in California.. It’s kind of like a slap in the face.”
Terry Thornton, California Department of Corrections spokeswoman, said “The Eighth Amendment of the US Constitution requires that prisons provide inmates with medically necessary treatment for medical and mental health conditions including inmates diagnosed with gender dysphoria” and that the state of California had to pay for the surgery, which could cost as much as $100,000. She also said Quine’s surgery is the first approved for transgender inmates in the United States and could lead to other transgender inmates to apply to their state for the surgery to be funded.
According to 89.3KPC, California prison officials agreed to the surgery in 2015 after fighting in court to avoid paying for these types of surgeries. In another high profile case from 2015, one inmate, Michelle-Lael Norsworthy, was paroled one day before a federal court was scheduled to hear her request for state-funded surgery. Quine’s request for the surgery also led a federal magistrate “to require California to provide transgender female inmates housed in men’s facilities with more female-oriented items such as nightgowns, scarves and necklaces.”
A prison psychologist recommended the surgery after Quine said it would bring “a drastic, internal completeness” to her life, and stop a depression so deep that she tried to commit suicide in prison five times.
This is slap in the face to the victim’s daughter, family, and taxpayers who have to foot the bill. The victim is no longer here to be with his family and live his life because of Quine’s actions.
Regardless on whether you think gender reassignment surgeries are important for some people’s mental health, is this really something that taxpayers should be footing the bill on for a convicted killer who will spend the rest of their life in prison?
