‘Bad Santa’ Caught Selling Drugs, Karma Foils His Escape

Jacksonville, FL –  A suspect dressed up as Santa Claus, later identified as Issac Geiger, was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Monday, December 19, 2016, for dealing drugs.

According to police sources, many recent complaints had been received about drug activity in a parking lot of a gas station in the 800 block of Golfair Blvd.  The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and observed a man, Issac Geiger, age 41, repeatedly going into and out of a U-Haul truck, retrieving items, and walking away. Geiger was described as a black male wearing a red and white Santa suit, complete with hat and beard. No one else was observed to be with Geiger or around the U-Haul truck.

After seeing the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Geiger fled from the U-Haul, where a large amount of marijuana was in plain view on the driver’s seat.  Jacksonvile Deputies chased Geiger, who tripped over his Santa pants and fell to the ground.

Detectives tried to take Geiger into custody but he resisted and rolled onto his belly.  He then placed his hands under his belly and refused to obey detectives’ commands.   After a struggle, Geiger was taken into custody.  Once detectives stood Geiger up, he attempted to flee again and was again placed on the ground until more officers could assist in taking him into custody.  He was searched and a plastic baggie containing marijuana was found in his left front pants pocket and cash was found in his right front pants pocket.

During a search of the U-Haul by Jacksonville Deputies, marijuana, a scale with marijuana residue, and a black pouch containing MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy, were found, also on the driver’s seat.  Deputies also found a five-gallon orange bucket with a white lid on the driver’s side floorboard.  The bucket contained additional marijuana, molly, ecstasy, a box of plastic baggies, and cash.

Geiger is being charged with multiple charges related to Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Sell, Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Sell, and Resisting Arrest without Violence.  He is in custody in the Duvall County Jail under $5,016 bond.  His first appearance in court was scheduled for Tuesday, December 20, 2016. According to court records, Geiger had been in the Duval County jail two previous times. In 2012, he pleaded no contest to two drug charges and served five days in jail.  Residents in the area were grateful for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s efforts and said that this Santa “had items in his sleigh that he shouldn’t have.”  The JSO said that Geiger traded in his Santa suit for a jail suit.

Too bad there isn’t a charge for Impersonating a Santa.  We commend the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for arresting this impersonator and giving him a place to stay for Christmas that is more fitting.
